Dating Timeline

How do I produce a Photographic Timeline?
I have recently had surgery and have been keeping a photographic diary. I am part of an online community and instead of posting individual photos I would like to be able, to put a timeline of photos with dates, comments etc underneath.
Does anybody know how I can do this without buying expensive programmes.
Thank you
Gimp is a free photo manipulation program that could do this

Open a wide thin canvas, put your pictures on it in sequence then add text beneath each image. Save the file and send to your community.
You would have to watch file size and keep the resolution of the individual pictures down, but it could be done its not TOO difficult. Another learning curve, think of it as therapy LOL.
Hope the surgery worked for you and you make a full recovery.
Chris
